2023 Wayne Gretzky Tournament
The U14 BB Team Red competed in The 52nd Annual Wayne Gretzky Tournament. The team had the amazing opportunity to play the Gr IFK team from Finland.
The players competed against A/BB teams from across Ontario and one team from Gr IFK Finland in the round robin play.
In the round robin game against Finland we trailed 3-1 late in the third period. After successfully pulling the goalie twice for the extra attacker, we were to able tie the game 3-3 with 23.9 seconds left. Wow
We won our quarter final game late Friday night setting up the rematch against Gr IFK Finland the next morning. In our best contest of the season, we came away with a 4-1 victory. The team then went on to defeat Brantford 99ers 4-1 in the Finals.
We are extremely proud of the effort that has been displayed by the entire team. Their amazing relentless work ethic, team play, passing and their constant effort to improve both off and on the ice sets them apart from other teams.
